We’re doing things a little different for today’s Unemployment Update. I’ll pop this week’s stats down at the bottom of this post, but today we’re going to do some more general career advice. I am not an expert, just someone who has been laid off multiple times over her career and hopes others can learn from her oversights.
If you’ve ever been laid off before, you know what the signs are - sudden department name changes, changes in leadership, projects that were once of the highest importance start to be quietly ignored, all-company meetings start sounding more and more depressing.
If this is happening at your company, these tips will be especially useful. Even if you don’t suspect your company is about to offload a bunch of employees, these tips are just good things to stay on top of/take advantage of. The truth is, we’re all temp employees these days and you never know what might happen. It won’t hurt to be prepared.
