That’s a wrap on 2024, folks. Good riddance, honestly. I’m hoping for a better 2025 filled with ease and abundance and not the complete dissolution of the American government. A girl can dream!
2024 was at least a good year for reading. I read 60 books, 22,599 pages total. Below you’ll find my 12 favorites, in no particular order.
Note that these aren’t books released in 2024, just the ones I read in 2024. I’m linking the post with my original review and adding affiliate links for Bookshop.org and Amazon.
Just don’t ask me to pick my ultimate favorite. It was hard enough narrowing it down to 12!

These 2 are from January, which pre-dates this newsletter, so here they are with my reviews and links:
💌 Divine Rivals, Rebecca Ross [Amazon | Bookshop]
All Iris Winnow wants is to hold her family together. Her brother is on the front lines of a war with the gods and her mother struggles with addition. A promotion at the newspaper she works for would help with their financial security, but she’s up against her work rival, Roman Kitt.
At home, Iris types letters to her brother on the front lines and slips them under her wardrobe door, where they disappear. Unbeknownst to Iris, they’re landing in the hands of Roman Kitt.
I adored this book. The story is unique and following along as Iris and Roman fall in love was magical. It’s the first in a duology and while the second was good, I didn’t love it as much as this first one.
🌳 In the Lives of Puppets, TJ Klune [Amazon | Bookshop]
Three robots live in a treehouse in a secluded forest. Giovanni, the father, is an elderly inventor and tinker. There’s also a nurse robot, a small robotic vacuum, and Victor, a human. Victor spends his time hunting through scrap yards for things they can build with. One day, he comes across some unfamiliar hardware labeled “HAP”. When Victor restores Hap, it sets off a chain of events leaving them all in danger.
As far as I’m concerned, TJ Klune can do no wrong. I put off reading this book because it didn’t really appeal to me - robots aren’t really my thing - but I am so glad I finally picked it up. Nurse Ratchet might be one of my favorite fictional characters of all time.
Here’s to 2025! May your year be filled with lots and lots of books and lots and lots of time to read them. ✨
I love Nurse Ratchet too!! Solid list!
